I have a Lenovo X1 6th generation laptop running Windows I installed the Zoom Conferencing app and while I can join a meeting and see their videos, the camera on my laptop just shows a blank screen. I have visited the Zoom help pages but to no avail. The system has the latest updates and the camera driver also is the latest one. Change Zoom's Advanced Video Settings. Zoom provides advanced tools designed to enhance video playback, but they sometimes have the opposite result. If your video continues to be distorted, open Zoom while not in a meeting and select the Settings gear , then choose the Video tab and select Advanced to adjust these options.
Make sure the correct camera is chosen and that the box beside Turn off my video when joining meeting isn't checked. Reinstall Zoom. If you're using the mobile or desktop versions of Zoom, uninstall the program and redownload it from the Apple App Store, Google Play , or the Zoom website.
Alternatively, you can try using the web version. If you're still having trouble with your camera in Zoom, you can still participate in meetings with your microphone or by dialing-in to Zoom. Some Lenovo PCs have a default feature that prevents Zoom from accessing the camera.
To turn off your webcam video on Zoom, select Stop Video from the bottom left of the screen. Other people won't be able to see you.
Log in to Zoom, select your profile picture, and click Settings. Select the Video tab and hover over your camera preview. Select the Rotate button in the top corner until your camera is rotated correctly. To test your camera, log in to Zoom, select your profile picture, and click Settings.
Our guide on how to force-quit a program in Windows can be useful if the program using your webcam is frozen or refuses to close. If the camera is in use, and no program open appears to be using the webcam, then a malicious program may be hijacking the camera. Install and run an antivirus if you don't have one already.
Check the camera's privacy settings. The menu that opens will show several toggle buttons. Check that the Allow apps to access your camera toggle is On. Next, find the program you want to use with your webcam in the list below and make sure its toggle button is On. Restart your laptop. This should resolve unusual bugs or configuration issues. It will also close software using the camera in the background, freeing up the camera for other apps.
Check that the camera is working. Perform a Windows Search for the Camera app and open it. If the app detects your Lenovo laptop camera and displays an image, the camera is working, and the issue is with the software you're attempting to use. You'll need to troubleshoot the program, such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams, instead of your Lenovo laptop's camera. Check for and install updates. Open Windows Update and use it to install any Windows and driver updates that are available.
Doing this will fix known bugs or configuration issues that recent software and driver updates resolved. Manually check for and install driver updates.
